Renderings

I have discussed this topic with a few of my friends, and I believe that hand drawn renderings are more pleasing or appealing to me than computer renderings. A rendering should be an illustration of what your idea is. It shouldn't be something that wants to look real but can't. Yes, computer renderings are the thing now a days, and they do have their place. Maybe it's just an aspect of architecture I don't want to see disappear. Maybe it is the artist side of me. It has been a while since I have done any "good" renderings, so I have have been slowly getting back to it.

Monument

I did this last week just for practice. It is nowhere close to a good rendering, but I'm working on it. I guess tackling a reflecting pool shouldn't have been my first choice.

Another Fudgcake

Here is my latest one. I seem to be taking a turn towards political style cartoonism with this and the next one. I've been spending my lunch time at the office looking at all the cartoons at Cagle.com. I hope you enjoy.

Sickness

Seems like everyone here at home has been sick some way or another this past month. Lynda had a stomach virus a few weeks ago, which then led to Kuper getting it - tenfold it seemed. I have just had some sinus issues, and now it seems Evan is getting something as well. The on call nurse told Lynda his might just be sinuses, and to just watch it and see the doctor if he is still the same or gets worse in a day or two.

Work has been very busy. I am working on about 4-5 different projects, with two having deadlines this Friday, and one Monday. That will be a fun plotting day.

Drawings

Here are a couple of drawings I did this past week or so. The first is just a perspective of a simple canopy. I am working on doing better perspective drawings without needing to actually have a design in place. Basically, I want to be able to design in perspective as well as plan and section.

Canopy

This next one is just something that "happened". I decided to work on my coloring on this one. I need to go get some good markings and work on rendering better.

Halo no Shadow

I have always preferred hand renderings over computer renderings. I guess it boils down to the illustration versus something trying to look real. I like the illustration. That said, I will still learn how to do it on the computer cause the more skills, the more you are worth - to yourself and others.

Busy as Usual

Yes, I have been busy, and neglecting this site a little. On a good note, I have some stuff to post.

This is a small series of drawings that just sort of evolved on its own. My hand drawing abilities are lacking lately due to my increased time working in AutoCad, but that is how work, well, works. Anyway, I started off with just drawing simple geometries in perspective, and for some reason I would add in an arrow that is reminiscent of graffiti. I don't know why, other than I like the way it works in, and I actually enjoy looking at graffiti on buildings and trains. But enough of my blabber, have a look see:

It may be a series I add to, but at this point it is still up in the air. Before I do another one, I will probably due some flat elevations and plan to help layout a more interesting perspective. I might even put the arrows in those as well.
