L.A.

I was in Los Angeles a for a few days this past week for work. It was for coordination with engineers and our L.A. office. I got to stay in a "swank" hotel. It is sort of cool to get to travel a little on the company's money.

When we first got there, we made a little site seeing stop at the Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry. We didn't go inside, but it was neat to get to see none the less. This is the concert hall that was spoofed on The Simpsons. I didn't take a camera, so I have no shots of my own for it. Boo hoo.

I was able to bring home a little memento from The Standard. You should have seen the condom box that was in the room.

Cabinet Project

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a used Epiphone Valve Jr. guitar head off of craigslist. I have been wanting to get a good little tube amp, cause they sound great compared to solid state amps, in my opinion that is. So now I need a cabinet.

A week ago, I bought a used 8 ohm, 35 watt Fender 12" speaker. I decided I would just build my own cabinet for it and have an 1/8 stack. I ordered some parts from bltsound.com. I got some corners, a handle, jack and jack plate for about $20 with shipping. I thought that was a good deal considering a handle from Guitar Center is about $16 without shipping. I went yesterday and got some plywood and casters at Home Depot. I guess now I just need to build it, well, when I get the parts in.

The only part I don't have is some grill cloth. I'm not sure where to find that. I also want to get some cord (I think that is what it is called) to go around the grill cloth. I have some vinyl I am going to cover the cabinet in, I just hope I have enough.
