This year, Lynda wanted to try and do a joint birthday party for the boys since they fall a month apart. The theme, as mentioned above, is the carnival. We are going to have a bean bag toss, duck pond, can toss, lollipop tree, and some other things. We will also have....
We just started it a couple of days ago. Lynda has been painting what I have outlined above. I still need to cut out the face hole, and about 2 feet off the top. She'll finish painting, and I will re-outline everything. I got the bean bag toss board made. It just needs to be mounted for use.

..at least that is what I am calling this nice sculpture created by Evan and Kuper (with the help of Lynda). I'll be taking it with me to work and proudly display in my work station. Oh yes!
I was also the lucky recipient of a Guitar Center gift card for $100. That has just been spent on an 8" drum head, 6" cymbal stacker, and a 7" Sabian Alu Bell. I have been wanting to start adding a few effects cymbals to my kit, so that's why I got the bell. It has a nice glass bottle sounding chime to it. I was thinking of getting a new snare stand, but decided I wanted to add rather than replace.
We went to Applebees to meet Jennifer and her kids (Lynda's sister), Tom (her Dad), and my Dad. It went well, other than my Dad falling asleep and not making it, oh well maybe some other time. I wasn't very hungry since I was still a little filled from the late and fabulous breakfast Lynda made - delicious breakfast burritos and cantelope. Hopefully you are jealous.

I finally finished refinishing the ole DW drum set. It probably took me a total of about 4 days all together. I spent almost 2 hours Friday night scraping adhesive off the bass drum. I am glad that is done. I would do it again if I had to.
Now I just need to clean the garage and set them back up so I can practice. It has only been about 3 weeks since I have played them. I think I will go ahead and set it back up with the 8" tom as well. My next project will probably be reconstructing an old 3/4 scale bass guitar. It is currently a piece of junk, so I might just play with it a little.

I have spent almost the entire weekend stripping, scraping, sanding, staining, and clear coating my drums. My upper body and back is pretty much sore from it. The only part left to do is the bass drum and hoops.
The hoops have been scraped and are ready for sanding. I removed the wrap from the bass drum, and it needs scraping. I have went through a box of 50 latex gloves before deciding to do the scraping without them. I kept ripping them up. I should have just invested the $3 for some refinishing gloves, but that's how it goes.
I plan on either working on it during the week, or waiting until next weekend to finish the bass drum. It just depends on if I work late or don't feel like doing it. I might even put my 8" tom back in use just because it looks fantastic. I would need to get a new head for it though. I'll just have to wait and see.
