Comments

Well, I just added commenting by Haloscan, which is cool. I would like to thank them for their free service. I would also lie to thank Stephan Hoppe for his Thingamablog tutorial. That helped me out with creating custom templates and getting this site to look the way I want it to.

Wildfires

Wildfires galore this afternoon. The big one of the day was about a quarter mile south of us, so at least there wasn't a big concern for heading our way.

Wildfire

At least there was a man made fire block for us - the highway. I need to go to the store, so hopefully it is cleared up by now, I haven't checked.

Wildfire

You can barely make out the news choppers in the smoke - they are the darker spots in the image above.

Wildfire

These events woke me from my nap. I have theses next couple of weeks off, and I will use them to my full advantage.

Honchie

If you live in the DFW area, you need to see Honchie. They are a local band, and are funny as hell. Honchie is a 5 piece band - guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and dj. They are a comedy rock spectacle.

I saw them play last week at the Wreck Room in Fort Worth. As always, they put on a fantastic show. It is hard to explain their antics, so all I can tell you is to go check them out, or you'll be missing out.

School Project

Here is a project from my school years that I really enjoyed. I recently drew these in Sketchup. I like the software because it is really easy to use, and is good for rendering schematic ideas.

NAFTA Prototype

This project was supposed to be a NAFTA rest stop prototype. My professor at the time came up with the project based on that legislature. These would basically be up and down the highways connecting the US and Mexico.

NAFTA Prototype

My main concept was to have various planes "piercing" the space while creating paths into it. The double roof was to allow a glass ceiling over the rest rooms areas, but still provide privacy (from birds and planes I guess).

NAFTA Prototype

I am currently working on a design for my own personal (someday to be built) home for me and my family. I am still working on the basic schematics of that, but I will post something when I get it where I want it.

Drum Head Art

I recently made a sculpture for a friend of my wife's. Basically, I took a used drum head and painted and added pieces to it. It first started as a painting, but the initial outcome was not satisfying. I wish I would have taken pictures along the way, but alas, I did not.

I repainted it several times, and even painted trace paper onto it before I decided to just spray paint it flat black. Then, I decided to abstract it a bit, and try to disrupt the drum heads obvious geometry minimally.

The first post

Welcome to my new "blog". My wonderful wife, Lynda, gave me the domain as a present for chrismahanaukwanzakalia. I am hoping to post on this daily, but sometimes that just doesn't happen. I have an online journal at iam.bmezine.com, but you have to have a membership to get past the first page of my journal. This blog will mostly contain posts of my art, architecture, music, and life happenings.

I am currently an intern architect in the DFW area of Texas. I have a BS in Architecture. After 4.5 years of interning, I will be eligible to take the ARE. I am married and have two sons, Evan and Kuper. That should be enough about me. If you want to know more, just email me, and maybe I will tell depending on your question.
