What would Frankie do?

Here is my latest creation. It is a larger scale painting of a previous sketch. I thought I had it on here, but can't seem to find it. So I guess I will show both.

The sketch

The painting

The piece is based on the Frank Zappa song "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" from the album Tinseltown Rebellion. In particular, is drawn from the end part of the song where it is asked "what would you do, Frankie?".

There are aspects to the sketch I like more than the painting, and vice versa. All together I am pleased with how it turned out.

studioMDK:photoBlog

I guess I should "officially" announce the new aspect to my blog, and that is obviously the studioMDK:photoBlog. The link is directly under the counter, and yes I added a link back to here from the photoblog. I might actually update that more than this, but who knows. I have a camera phone, so it makes it a little easier to take pictures when I want.

Enjoy!

Different Blog Functionality?

So I have been looking into adding another function to this site of mine. What I want to do is add a "photoblog" section that is just photos I upload.

My original intent was to have it be more of a moblog (mobile blogging). My only problem is that the only software I can find is php based, which my $0 hosting program does not support. I also don't see myself shelling out $10-$20 a month for something that may not be updated much (like this blog, but I am trying). I am wanting to be able to send an image from my phone to a specific email address and have it automatically uploaded to the site. There are websites that do this, but I wanted to keep the content under my domain.

I am currently testing out Snaplog. It is Windows based software, and works similarly to what I am using to blog this site. The only issue is that I would like to have the automation as mentioned above. I also need to redo the theme of the page. If you want to see it in it's current state, you can do that here. Any feedback would be welcome.

Carnival!

This year, Lynda wanted to try and do a joint birthday party for the boys since they fall a month apart. The theme, as mentioned above, is the carnival. We are going to have a bean bag toss, duck pond, can toss, lollipop tree, and some other things. We will also have....

Cowboy Picture Hole!

We just started it a couple of days ago. Lynda has been painting what I have outlined above. I still need to cut out the face hole, and about 2 feet off the top. She'll finish painting, and I will re-outline everything. I got the bean bag toss board made. It just needs to be mounted for use.

Welcome to Father's Day Land!

Father's Day Land!

..at least that is what I am calling this nice sculpture created by Evan and Kuper (with the help of Lynda). I'll be taking it with me to work and proudly display in my work station. Oh yes!

I was also the lucky recipient of a Guitar Center gift card for $100. That has just been spent on an 8" drum head, 6" cymbal stacker, and a 7" Sabian Alu Bell. I have been wanting to start adding a few effects cymbals to my kit, so that's why I got the bell. It has a nice glass bottle sounding chime to it. I was thinking of getting a new snare stand, but decided I wanted to add rather than replace.

We went to Applebees to meet Jennifer and her kids (Lynda's sister), Tom (her Dad), and my Dad. It went well, other than my Dad falling asleep and not making it, oh well maybe some other time. I wasn't very hungry since I was still a little filled from the late and fabulous breakfast Lynda made - delicious breakfast burritos and cantelope. Hopefully you are jealous.

Redo

Well, I started the paper mache sculpture. The only problem is I think I should have done the base shape a little better, so it will end up being something different. I'll redo the egg thing once I decide how to do the base shape.

I have started a new drawing, which is just in the study phase. I am trying not to rush myself on it, but that is how I seem to want do do some things - NOW. The piece will be titled "Is it love?". Here is the initial study. I have already changed the pose from this one.
